After many people complained about the GT's rear end and about how bulky it looked, whilst the 3 Series GT received such positive reviews, BMW decided to adapt the 5er to the look of its smaller brother.
The rear end has been reshaped so that it inspires dynamic elegance, just what this kind of car needs. The elegant line of the coupe-like roofline, the four doors with frameless windows and high opening tailgate combine sportiveness with style.
3D surfaces and the effects around the license plate mount create a vibrant display with a dynamical sweeping crease extending into the flanks. A chrome strip fitted on the rear apron give the tail a sportier feel, just like on the 7 Series.
Furthermore, this impression is even more emphasized by the new outline of the two-section rear lights. They have been redesigned horizontally and this way the light is distilled into two LED strips.
