As more and more automakers are offering clean diesel engines in the US , the modern oil burners are starting to make their way into the top segments of the market. The latest example of this comes from Audi, which has recently released the pricing for previously-announced A8 L TDI.
The diesel version of the long-wheelbase A8 is scheduled to arrive in Audi dealerships across the US this spring. The 2014 Audi A8 L TDI will have a starting price of $82,500.
The vehicle is powered by a 3.0-liter unit that delivers 240 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, which are sent to the road via the automotive producer's quattro all-wheel drive system.
The unit allows the sedan to leave the 62 mph mark behind in a respectable 6.4 seconds. As for the fuel efficiency, the EPA figures for the model sit at 24 mpg city / 36 mpg highway/ 28 mpg combined - Audi tells us that these are the best values in the segment.
