Audi A3 Allroad in the Cards

Audi is really into making crossover versions of their regular cars, and after the A6 and A4, the A3 is almost sure to follow. The Allroad model would be pretty much identical to the regular A3 in the body styling and overall design, yet it would sit on slightly higher suspension, and get a few distinguishing touches, as well.

Like all the hatchbacks which get turned into mild off-roaders, the A3 Allroad will get some minor styling changes over the normal A3, such as different rim designs, plastic body cladding for the wheel arches, possible scuff plates under the front and rear bumpers, and lots of Quattro and Allroad badges to complete the package.

According to official sources quoted by drive.com.au, ‘‘There’s been absolutely no official communication at all on a car like this [ . . . ] There’s no official word at all about an A3 Allroad-type vehicle. For someone wanting an off-road-styled car in the small segment, we suggest a Q3 with an off-road pack which is almost identical to this vehicle.’

The information comes courtesy of Anna Burgdorf, who is the automaker's communications general manager for Audi's Australian branch. She went on to say: "We certainly know from the previous generation that there was a three-door, a Sportback (five-door) and a Cabriolet version [ . . . ] It’s likely to assume that will also follow with the new A3 range. Certainly, there have been a number of design sketches out about an A3 sedan, in addition to a three-door, five-door and potentially a convertible."
