Evolution Performance were the first to run a 9-second quarter mile with a 2013 Shelby GT500 in 2012. However, their record didn’t last too long, as Lethal Performance raised the bar from 9.95 to 9.39 seconds back in February.
But that didn’t stop Evolution Performance to get back to drag strip to improve their time, and they’ve just managed to take the 2013 Shelby GT500 in the 8-second sector with the help of a 5.8-liter V8 from L&M Race Engines and a 3.6-liter Kenne Bell supercharger under the bonnet.

As some of you might have already guessed, the power figure is well above the 1,000 HP mark. To be more precise, the mill delivers a whooping 1,156 HP and 1,078 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a Spec twin-disc clutch and an aluminum flywheel. The musclecar also gained a FAB 9-inch rear end as well as a set of Weld RT-S wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET drag slicks.

The groundbreaking quarter mile time was set at 8.94 seconds and 159 mph (255 km/h), and if you have trouble believing it, you might want to check out the spectacular video posted below.
