2013 Scion FR-S Downshift Rev Blip Explained

The Toyoscionbaru was developed as a pure sportscar with plenty of driver feel, a light chassis and a low-slung boxer engine at the front. Both the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S are imported to America from Japan and are available for around $25,000.
Most of the early buyers (the Scion FR-S has been available since June 1st) have opted for the manual gearbox, since this offers the most direct response and the purest feel. But an automatic version is also available, and it’s not a boring unit like you get on a Camry. Oh no, it’s got a manual mode and is operated using paddles mounted behind the steering wheel.

The automatic transmission comes with Scion’s Dynamic Rev Management, which blips the revs of the engine higher when you downshift, just like a race driver would do using the heel and toe technique.
