Wonder whether Yamaha will make the racing debut of their awaited "seamless gearbox" at Misano this weekend. While some paddock winds suggest Rossi and Lorenzo will indeed ride in the San Marino round with the new gearbox, Yamaha is silent.
Having tested the seamless transmission at Brno earlier in August, Yamaha's motorcycles seemed to offer improved performance, there's still the reliability problem, as i looks like Valentino Rossi's machine stalled at Brno doe to a faulty gearbox.

While a potential retreat for Rossi would only bring him closer to Cal Crutchlow in the world standing, such a scenario involving Jorge Lorenzo would mean kind of letting the 2013 title go. 9 points behind Pedrosa and 39 behind Marquez is definitely not the best time to kill a race due to a gearbox which breaks down.

Both Yamaha bikes seem to have improved a bit on the brakes, but are still a long way from the shape the two riders would like them to be in. As Lorenzo said, the title is not lost, but the remainder of the championship will be a battle really hard to fight.

Ahead of the Misano round, Yamaha is teasing the new sport watch coming from TW Steel.
