While many feared for Jorge Lorenzo and his decision to race in Assen, new medical tests have showed that the Spaniard did not suffer any further injury, despite the efforts during the race.
Back in Assen during the Friday afternoon, after undergoing a surgery between 2 and 4am to fix his collarbone, fractured in a high-speed crash in FP2, Lorenzo also went through two medical tests at the circuit and was deemed fit to race... if he decided to do so.
While Lorenzo declared that even being able to finish the race would be a small personal victory but he would try to get at least 5 points, we were delighted to see the Cobra bringing the bike home with the 5th fastest time of the race.
Back at the Hospital General de Catalunya and with Doctor Teresa Sola, Jorge Lorenzo's status seems to be heading the right way for a fast recovery. He had revisions to control the wound and for mobility management, and Dr. Sola explained that "the physical effort required in the Grand Prix of The Netherlands does not appear to have caused any repercussions," MotoGP.com reports.
Lorenzo is sure to take part in the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring, on July 14th. The Cobra is 9 points down from the current leader, Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda. Stay tuned for a nice editorial on Friday.
