OK, before we say say anything bad about the refreshed Ford Flex, can you honestly tell us that doesn’t look like a Range Rover from the front? Come on, be honest!
Getting back to the reveal at hand, this is a new and admittedly good look for the Flex, a vehicle we really expected to be dropped by now, since it overlaps so much with the Explorer. The 2013 Flex will make its official debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Motor Show, where its new chrome bits and more powerful V6 will surely shine.
Under the bonnet is a fresh version of the 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s now fitted with twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). The output of the unit is 285 hp, which is 23 more than the previous version. It’s also supposed to be 1 mpg more frugal, though we can’t imagine an advertising campaign about that.
As for the higher-output version, it comes in the form of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with a more respectable 355 hp, same as before.
