The Ford sports SUV is almost here, as the online configurator/builder revealed the starting price of the 2013 Explorer Sport today. Right now, the closest to official information we can give you is that the Sport sits at the top of the range and costs from $40,720 not including destination ($825) which brings the total to $41,545.
This makes it $11850 more expensive than the base Explorer with a 3.5-liter TiVCT V6 engine and $2,865 more expensive than the current range-topper, the Explorer Limited.

Right now, the semi-official Ford figures suggest the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost puts out ‘more than 350 horsepower’ while returning 22 mpg highway. The SUV is doing a balancing act between power and economy, the latter being the more important of the two according to Ford.

“Adding an EcoBoost drivetrain to Explorer Sport delivers even more fuel efficiency and performance to the lineup,” said Bill Gubing, Explorer chief engineer. “This is our highest- performance, most capable Ford Explorer ever.”
