Chevrolet recently announced that the 2013 Malibu will get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with the downsized unit set to offer a boost of efficiency to the vehicle.We are talking about a powerplant that will deliver 263 hp and a peak torque of 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) and will turn the sedan into a sporty vehicle, offering it a 0 to 62 mph time of 6.3 seconds.
The engine comes with direct injection and will be released on a multitude of markets, including the US, Canada and Israel, with the launch date set for this fall. The company didn't release any additional details of the unit.
In addition to that, Chevy announced the 2.5-liter Ecotec four-cylinder powerplant’s output, with the unit delivering 200 hp and a peak torque of 191 lb-ft (259 Nm), which means that the unit tops the initial estimates by 7 hp and 11 lb-ft (15 Nm).
