Cadillac’s line-up now has a new king - the 2013 XTS, a vehicle that also indicates the styling direction where future Cadillacs are going (pay attention to that grille, you’ll see it again).
Some voices have been criticizing automakers fro turning to bling religion and fitting their cars with rims the size of the US, but this isn’t the case. Yes, we have standard 19-inch wheels and optional 20-inch ones, but this are justified by the vehicle’s dimensions, as it measures 202 inches (513 cm), with a wheelbase of 111 inch (282 cm), which allows it to offer 4 inches of extra legroom in the back compared to the BMW 5-Series (two over what the Audi A6 has to offer) and come with a boot capacity of 18 cu. ft. (509 liters).

Inside all this metal, we find quite a lot of tech, as we get a Haldex all-wheel-drive system with electronically controlled limited-slip differential (this is optional), Magnetic Ride Control (magneto-rheological auto-adaptive suspension), air suspension at the rear, a HiPer Strut suspension that aims to turn the front axle into a driver’s pet, as well as Brembo brakes.

Up front, we get GM’s 3.6-liter V6 unit that delivers 300 hp at 6,800 rpm and a peak torque of 264 lb-ft at 5,300 rpm, working with a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed auto tranny. According to Cadillac, the 2WD model should be good for an efficiency of 17/28 mpg (city), while the AWD one should return figures of 17/27.

The main highlight of the interior is the new CUE infotainment system, which includes a 12.3-inch LCD screen and offers a ton of personalization options.

The Cadillac XTS is scheduled to enter production in Oshawa, Ontario in spring 2012.
