It’s all real, and it’s begging to sink in deeper and deeper. Buick has a Sonic-sized crossover that’s more Gen Y than old-timer wafter. We’re talking about the 2013 Encore that made its debut at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show. This is Buick’s fifth new entry from Buick in just as many years.
We don’t really car much if they call it a luxury crossover SUV, since it really isn’t, and there’s no good way of naming it since it’s a fresh idea for the US market. But the first video presentation of the Encore is a wonderful cinematic creation, and does a great job of highlighting its design merits.
We’re just concerned right now that the 1.4-liter Ecotec is no match for the 3,190-pound crossover. A 2.0-liter turbo diesel would have made this a true luxury vehicle.
