Toyota India has announced the 2012 Camry sedan will arrive in the country on August 24th as a third generation model for this market. This model has been a huge success overseas, and has captured the imagination of the Asian and even the Russian market, while in the US it’s responsible for the Big T’s recovery to a large extent.
In order to lower the price to a competitive level, the 2012 Carmy will be assembled locally, at the Bidaidi plant in Bangalore, Western India. It will arrive there in completely knocked down (CKD) kits.
The Carmy will sport a different face to that seen on the US market. It will feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, but could also a 3.5-liter Toyota V6 as an option. Diesels look unlikely but could be offered at a later date.
