Toyota recently announced that the all-new 2013 Avalon Hybrid is aiming for an EPA Rating of 40 mpg city and 39 mpg highway, with the vehicle set to hit the marker by the end of the current year.
The vehicle borrows the powertrain of the Camry hybrid, which combines a 154 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol unit with an electric motor, for an overall output of 200 hp. For the sake of comparison, we’ll tell you that the Camry Hybrid, which is similar in size, comes with an EPA rating of 43 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.
As for the standard 2013 Toyota Avalon, which is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 268 hp, using a six-speed automatic gearbox, this is expected to receive and EPA rating of 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
