2012 Range Rover Will Have Evoque Styling

Despite the departure that was made from the British firm’s core brand, the new Range Rover Evoque is clearly a step in the right direction. While there’s no big V8 in the range, its engines are efficient yet powerful enough for the soccer run. The design changes are also something to behold, and we expect great things in the sales department from the sleek two-door version.

The Evoque has a chance of becoming Land Rover’s best seller, and it’s only natural that the rest of the range should follow on its design path. According to Autocar, there’s a new 2012 Range Rover will arrive arrive on the scene with a design that’s heavily influenced by the Evoque, according to the company’s head of design Gerry McGovern.

“There are aspects of the design that will be key. Range Rovers usually have a level window line and the body’s side and glass areas are equal. We’ve got rid of both on the Evoque, but we’ve still got the signature floating roof,” said McGovern in an interview.

In addition to a the changes made to the fascia, both the windscreen and the rear window will have a steeper angle, contributing to the sportier feel of the new Range Rover.

The interior will also move away from the usual rugged mix to the Evoque’s luxury trim. Land Rover has also pledged to create more room insider, especially for rear passengers.

The engine range has just been revised for a number of the British company’s models, but further fuel-saving measures will arrive, primarily in the form a major weight reduction. The 2012 Range Rover will have a number of panels constructed from lightweight alloys, leading to a total reduction of about 450 kg (992 pounds) reducing.
