Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean were on hand at the Lotus F1 headquarters in Enstone, Oxfordshire, to take the covers off the new 2012 Formula 1 car called the E20, which also features a stepped nose, just like the Ferrari F2012 features a stepped nose. Other than that, the E20 pays homage to the Enstone facility via the E in its name and also comes with a snazzy paintjob featuring the usual classic black and gold livery you saw on some legendary monsters, like the 77.
The 2012 regulations in F1 have also resulted in the front-exiting exhaust being removed, a system that many manufacturers were focusing on to improve performance. "Our forward exhausts would now be illegal under the new rules and didn't live up to our expectations in any case," said technical director James Allison.
"In 2012 we want to finish in fourth position or higher in the championship. Beyond that our aspirations are higher,” said Chairman Gerard Lopez.
