2012 Kia Sorento Now Comes With 2.4L GDI and UVO Infotainment

Kia’s main pillar of support when it comes to sales in the US is no doubt the Sorento, so it’s only natural the Korean company treats it like it’s made of glass. So it happens the company only offers its best technologies for the popular model that has won numerous awards over the years.

According to a recent press release, the 2012 Kia Sorento will be available with the carmaker’s hands-free UVO infotainment system, and its brand-new GDI direct-injection four-cylinder engine. No other mechanical changes were made but this should be enough for the crossover to stay relevant in the market.

In the cosmetic changes department, the LX and EX trim levels now come with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, a feature that was previously an option on the Sorento LX. All models are also available with power folding side mirrors, added chromed dual pipe/muffler exhaust (GDI four-cylinder only), plus new five-spoke hyper finish wheel design and stainless step pad for the range-topping EX.

  • New YES-Essentials seat treatment (integrated new anti-soiling, anti-static, and antibacterial fabric properties)
  • Available UVO in-car hands-free entertainment and communication system package
  • Compass added to electrochromatic rear-view mirror and replaces back-up display (available with UVO only; back-up display moved to UVO display screen) (optional LX and EX)
  • Optional third row of seating (base LX V6; previously standard)
  • All trim sonar / back-up warning availability (optional LX; standard EX/SX)
  • Updated interior illumination (EX)
  • Added memory driver's seat/four-way power passenger seat and ventilated and cooled seats (optional EX; standard SX)
  • Added three-position heated seat switch (optional LX and EX; standard SX)
