2012 won’t be just a model year for the Ferrari California, with the Prancing Horse set to being a mid-cycle facelift for its entry-level model.
According to CAR Magazine, the revamp will be focused on tech details, with the visual changes set to be imperceptible, with one example of the latter being an optional silver-finished front grille.
The 2012 California’s 4.3-liter V8 will received updated internals (these get a new machining process), as well as an ECU remap and thus will deliver an extra 30 hp and a higher torque, with the new output standing at around 490 hp and 373 lb-ft (505 Nm). The new muscle is offered for 98 octane petrol -the engine will also run on 95, but with less power.
In addition to that, the coupe-cabrio will also lose around 30 kg (66 lbs) and should tip the scales at around 1,700 kg (3,450 lbs). The result of all the changes should be a 0 to 62 mph time of 3.85 seconds. Ferrari is also expected to introduce new magnerheological dampers, so the handling will also be sharper.
Our say: the aforementioned changes seem to be just what we found missing when we tested the California.
