2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible to Debut on March 26, 2011

Revealed in Paris in the form of a concept, the new BMW 6 Series will debut on March 26, 2011, with the German brand to host a special event for a limited number of customers. The editors over at Carscoop spotted some sort of invitation on the company's British website which invites clients to register for an invitation, but no photos or official details are actually published online.

"The new BMW 6 Series Convertible will be launched on 26 March 2011. So to make sure we keep you up to date with the latest news and send you an invitation to an exclusive BMW Dealer pre-launch preview, just register below," the text of the invitation reads.

Even if we're only months away from the public release, details are still limited, regardless if we're talking about price or engine specifications. For example, it is believed that the car will be using a 4.4l V8 engine with an output of around 395 horsepower and 609 Nm of torque. Furthermore, it will be featuring high-end, high tech features, including a brand new 10.2-inch iDrive display complete with a Head-Up function.

If we are to trust some information we received back in April 2010 when we also got the first pack of spyshots, a 6 Series-based GT may also be on the way, a "natural progression" of a premium sports coupe. If true, the GT 6 will be the first BMW model to have a full hatchback and unique passenger entry, with a Mazda RX-8 like rear hatch and no B-pillar.
