2011 Nissan Murano Goes Down Under

The Aussie division of Nissan today confirmed the refreshed Murano SUV with new front styling, new design alloy wheels and rear privacy glass, is to go on sale in September, while also revealing details and pricing for the model. Getting straight to the point, the starting price tag for the Murano was set at AUD47,990.

The refreshed model features a new grille, front bumper and headlamp design. New, multi spoke 18 inch alloy wheels are introduced along with new design rear taillights, new roof rail design (finished in silver on the Ti model) and the addition of rear privacy glass. The ST model now adds fogs lamps as standard.

Inside, both models now feature rain sensing windshield wipers while ST models pick up a Bose audio with 2 Gigabyte HDD and 7 inch color display, rear reversing camera and heated front seats.

The range topping Murano Ti now features Nissan’s new generation satellite navigation and USB input jack or iPod connectivity with a 9 Gigabyte HDD.

In addition to the highly acclaimed 191kW VQ35DE 3.5-litre V6 engine that offers 336 Nm of torque, the Murano is mated to Nissan’s Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission that reduces fuel consumption thanks to its low speed lock-up programming (10.9 l/100km).

A full suite of electronic safety systems, including Vehicle Dynamic Control and a rigid bodyshell earned the Murano a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the United States.

The Nissan Murano was the first SUV to win a Design Award in Australia. The Nissan Murano was described by the Australian International Design Awards judges as “a radical departure from the angular SUV wagon stereotypes.”
