Mopar, Chrysler’s parts and accessories division, got a lot of attention at this year’s NAIAS with its long list of customized vehicles, which included the Mopar Fiat 500, Mopar Chrysler 200 and Mopar Ram Runner. Following the trend for “tasteful customization”, their 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel take the factory model SUV to a whole new level of luxury.
Just like its close relative, the Grand Cherokee, the Durango has made substantial progress, in just about every department, over its predecessor. This particular vehicle is in the range-topping Citadel trim level and was dressed in "Black and Tan" for last year’s SEMA show. The Durago now sits on 22-inch custom-forged aluminum Super Alloy wheels that are highly polished with hyper-silver accents.
New features also include the polished stainless steel tips of the Mopar/Corsa custom exhaust and a shiny black exterior is matched on the inside with an all-new interior. The "Black and Tan" name comes from the interior, which the Mopar Underground team recreated in black and tan Nappa leather. To accent the paintwork, a pair of chromed tube steps were added and the SUV was dropped with Mopar lowering springs.
Just like many other Chrysler products, the Durango uses either a 5.7-liter V-8 with 360 horsepower or the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6.
