2011 Mazda Verisa Gets a Refresh in Japan

Though consumers from around the world are unfamiliar with the model, the Mazda Verisa, a compact car destined for the Japanese market, just got some fresh tweaks, which include both interior and exterior modifications. For example, the restyled Verisa comes with new colors for both the fabric and leather seats.

Available in two equipment grades, the Verisa C features new Coral Brown fabric seats, which are brown in the middle and beige on the sides, while the Verisa L has new Cool Black leather seats with a black and sand-colored two-tone design.

Also, to match the new seats, the Verisa L has a black and sand-colored leather-wrapped steering wheel. In addition, both grades have a newly designed instrument panel with blackout meters. The exterior is complemented by newly designed hub caps for both the 14-inch and 15-inch wheels.

But the fresh additions don’t stop here. Mazda also included automatic headlights and front rain sensing wipers (which automatically switch on according to ambient conditions), and water-repellent coating (on the front door windows and door mirrors) are standard equipment on the Verisa L grade. Moreover, a fuel consumption gauge (showing average fuel consumption) and an eco-lamp have been added to the instrument panel on all model grades.

As for the car itself, it has proven not to be such a successful model. Since its introduction in 2004, the Verisa barely managed to sell around 20,000 units in the Japanese market. A second generation seems to have been postponed, as Mazda opted for minor tweaks to be brought to the vehicle, rather than going for an entirely new model... again.
