After these days, during the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, the Japanese carmaker hinted the new luxury hybrid will be released in the United States, Toyota officially confirmed the luxury compact will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show this April.
“When the all-new Lexus CT 200h enters the market it will be the only hybrid vehicle in the emerging premium compact segment,” Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager said when announcing the presence.
“The CT 200h combines luxury features, eye-catching styling, and driving excitement that we know will attract a whole new buyer to the Lexus brand.”
The car features a 1.8-liter VVT-i petrol engine paired with an electric unit and offers four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport and EV, with the last one to provide a maximum range of up to 1.2 miles (1.9 km) at speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h).
To help the electric range, Lexus designed the car to be as aerodynamic as possible. The front and rear corners have been designed to improve the flow of air down the sides, the sides of the cabin have been tapered, while the rear edge of the roof was lowered.
The luxury hybrid features LED daytime running lights, a dashboard split into an upper Display Zone, with an eight-inch LCD multi-display screen, plus a lower Operation Zone, with the shift lever and other controls such as Lexus’s Remote Touch multi-function controller.
