2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R on Tech Hold

The North American division of Kawasaki has just announced it is placing a technical hold on the 2011 Ninja ZX-10R sportbike. The company is proactively addressing a remedy which reflects Kawasaki’s “commitment to excellence and its relationships with its highly valued customers and dealer network.”

According to the manufacturer, there will be two actions initiated through the Kawasaki dealer network.

For example, unsold units will be returned to KMC warehouses. The units will be redistributed once Kawasaki is 100 percent confident they reflect company standards for this highly technical, race-bred machine.

In addition to that, those who have taken delivery of a unit will be instructed to return the unit to the dealership for a full refund and will be among the first to have the option of receiving a new unit once the technical hold has been lifted.

The all-new bike has a MSRP of $13,799 and is available in Flat Ebony and Lime Green. It’s said to boast the most advanced traction-control system in all of production motorcycling.

The MotoGP-derived S-KTRC, or Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control system works by processing every data point 200 times per second and then maximizes performance by subtly reducing power just before the amount of slippage exceeds the optimal traction zone, thus maximizing forward motion.

Powering the new Ninja is an all-new 998cc, 16-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled inline-four engine, capable of developing 197 horsepower (or 207 horsepower with ram air in full effect).

Also, the 2011 ZX-10R is 22 pounds lighter than the 2010 model, the instrumentation which can be set to Normal Mode or Race Mode, while the new ECO Ride Indicator is showing favorable riding conditions to minimize fuel consumption.
