2011 Car of the Year Finalists Announced

The jury has finally revealed the list of the seven finalists in the race for the 2011 Car of the Year award, with multiple models initially considered favorite to snatch the first place, out of the competition. For example, the new BMW X3 has been eliminated, just like Audi A1, Lexus CT 200h, Honda CR-Z, Porsche Cayenne or MINI Countryman.

Instead, we have Dacia's Duster, the first time a Romanian model reaches this phase of the competition, Nissan Leaf, also the first time an electric model goes that far, as well as Alfa's Giulietta and the new Volvo S60.

The big winner will be announced on November 29, 2010, with each member of the jury, which by the way counts 58 people, to allocate a total of 25 points for each finalist. Each model can't receive more than 10 points and every member will have to write a small text to explain his decision.

Here are the seven models that are still in the race for the 2011 Car of the Year prize:
