Continuing with the ”New Class of World Class” theme introduced by the launch of the LaCrosse last year, Buick had just revealed its advertising plans for the 2011 Regal. As part of the campaign, the carmaker offers a 10-city test drive program later this year, where up to 12,000 potential customers will get to experience the new sedan.

Other elements included in the campaign are digital, social and mobile activities, TV ads in both network and cable original programming, as well as an aggressive outdoor advertising.

Print ads are based on the fact that the 2011 Buick Regal is, in fact, a rebadged version of the European Opel Insignia that won the European Car of the Year award. That is why some of the print ads in the new advertising campaign will center around that.

“We want consumers to discover the 2011 Buick Regal as a compelling performance sedan,” said Craig Bierley, Buick advertising director. “We are presenting the Regal in a variety of ways that are unexpected and providing relevant personal stories to allow consumers to draw their own conclusions about our newest Buick.”

The Buick Regal comes with a naturally aspirated 2.4 liter four cylinder engine that offers 184 hp. A turbocharged 2.0 liter Ecotec four cylinder developing 220 hp is scheduled to be offered starting from late summer. GM will make both units available with gasoline and E85 ethanol, making the turbo unit its first series production E85 turbocharged and direct injected engine.

The Buick Regal powered by the 2.4 liter normally aspirated engine starts at $26,995, while the upcoming model will start from $29,495, with both prices including a $750 destination charge.
