2011 BMW 335i Performance Edition Packs 20 More HP for $550

Earlier this month, German automaker BMW revealed that it will offer a Performance Edition package on 2011 335i coupes and sedans, while existing owners of the respective models given the possibility to retrofit the package to their cars.

In a press release today, however, the manufacturer tells us that in addition to the aforementioned owners of the 135i with the N55 also can have the dealer-installed package added to their rides.

We’ll remind you that the BMW Performance Edition for the 2011 335i / xDrive Sedan comes under the option code ZMZ and includes an all-new Power Kit, black kidney grilles and a “BMW Performance Edition” badge for $550.

BMW says the package brings a boost in horsepower from 300 to 320, along with a torque increase to either 317 or 332 lb-ft, depending on the choice of a manual or automatic transmission, respectively. That means buyers of the 335i can get 335is’ power at a fraction of the price.

The power boost means the acceleration from 0-60 mph is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard model and 0.5 seconds faster than the standard model from 50 mph to 75 mph.

“The BMW Performance Edition is offered only for a limited time on 335i Sedans through the end of 2011 which will ensure that owners of these vehicles will belong to a very special club of performance purists,”
BMW explains in a company statement.

“BMW is also pleased to announce that the contents of the BMW Performance Edition will be made available to existing 135i and 335i customers.” However, pricing to purchase the contents of this edition as a retrofit will be announced sometime next month (August, 2011).
