2010 Geneva Preview: Subaru Impreza XV Crossover

The 2010 Geneva Motor Show opening its doors in March will be used by Subaru to showcase several goodies, including the brand new Impreza XV crossover. In case this doesn't ring any bell to you - and we're sure this really happens because Subaru managed to keep things secret very well - the Subaru Impreza XV is a car based on the Impreza 5-door model but incorporates several new crossover-like features.

For example, it has an exclusively designed front grille and wheel arch, new roof rails and roof spoiler. As for dimensions, the car is 4,430 x 1,770 x 1,520mm (1,515mm for Diesel model) and boasts a wheelbase of 2,650mm.

Projected to go on sale this summer in Europe, the crossover will be offered with two engine configurations, a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed petrol unit and the turbo Boxer diesel, both of them complying with Euro 5 regulations.

Besides the Impreza XV, Subaru will also showcase the Hybrid Tourer Concept, a model that "reflects Subaru's vision of the future grand touring car," as the company said in a press statement. "Presented with an eye-catching sculpted exterior design, the concept offers an ideal combination of Subaru's authentic driving performance, all-round safety features and environmental friendliness provided by its unique hybrid system."

The car is powered by a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed direct fuel-injection turbo gasoline engine plus two motors.

Another model to be seen at Subaru's booth at the Geneva Motor Show is the Plug-in Setall, a production electric vehicle launched in Japan last year.
