Tired of all the 1960s trucks coming at us from all corners of America and featured here as part of our Celebration Month special coverage? Then here’s a newer yet not less exciting one.
Even if Ford is the still undisputed leader of the new pickup truck market, it's weird that when it comes to pre-owned machines it is Chevrolet that steals the spotlight. As you’ve seen over the past few weeks here on autoevolution (and you can confirm that by yourself by browsing the countless sales websites out there), no present-day Ford momentum will ever be able to overtake the old-school bowties with a bed at the rear in terms of buyer interest.
Generally speaking, the market is literally flooded with Chevy pickups coming from the early days of the C/K family, with the likes of the C10 still around in vast numbers and countless, unique variations. But newer trucks of the same variety, albeit rarer, are equally as exciting.
We found this one, a 1990 Chevy 1500, waiting for someone willing to pay $21,250 to take it home. The all-black apparition is mildly customized, and there's something about it that immediately caught our eye.
Coming as a regular cab, the truck keeps low to the ground, giving its black body an even more aggressive stance – the rear spoiler, perched on the bed cover close to the tailgate, helps in that respect too. There seem to be no major issues with the metal panels, and their dark straightness is only offset by the polished alloy wheels.
We’re told the pickup hides custom elements inside such as a JVC music player and auxiliary gauges mounted under the dash for oil pressure and water temperature. The engine is a 454-ci (7.4-liter) V8 linked to a 4-speed automatic transmission, but no performance figures are provided.
The truck is listed with 87,000 (140,000 km) on the clock.
