1989 Batmobile Replica to Go Under Hammer in Las Vegas

Batman fans and exquisite car collectors should prepare their wallets and credit cards as a replica of the Batmobile that appeared in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film starring Michael Keaton is going under the hammer.

The vehicle, which is supposed to be an exact recreation of the 1989 Batmobile, will be auctioned by Kruse International in Las Vegas later this month. Having a canopy that moves under its own actuator to the correct wheels and Mickey Thompson tires, the Batmobile has a small block 350 Chevy engine with an automatic transmission riding on a custom tube chassis. The interior features leather seats,  dash and trim just like in the movie. What's more, it is equipped with aircraft gauges and instrumentation.

As if all these features weren't already tempting enough for any Batman fan, you have to know that the Batmobile has a full air suspension for clearance on steep drive ways and any obstacle in its path. Therefore, the lucky buyer can either drive this vehicle or... use it for display purposes.

However, so far Kruse International has not established a starting price for the auction but since we're talking about an exquisite vehicle, we might assume that the price can go rather high.

Certainly those who watched Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film, first discovered the Batmobile when Batman comes to rescue Vicki Vale from the Joker and his henchmen outside of the Gotham Museum of Art. The two then escape in the Batmobile and Batman drives them to the Batcave, where he then gives the secret of Joker's chemical combinations to Vicki. The Batmobile's next appearance is when Batman sends the car into Axis Chemicals on autodrive and has it drop explosives inside, destroying the factory.

So, how much will this Batmobile replica bring to its seller? And more importantly, who is going to "fly" in Batman's car?
