37,502 customers who walked into a Chevrolet dealership in 1974 ended up ordering a Corvette, and unsurprisingly, most people (32,028) picked the coupe. Only 5,474 convertibles rolled off the assembly lines despite carrying a smaller price tag and costing "only" 5,765.
The coupe broke new records from a production and price perspective. It was the first time it could be hard for over $6K, as the base price of a coupe was $6,001.50.

A 1974 Chevrolet Corvette that spent the last three decades in a barn landed online a few days ago, hoping the WWW is ready to give it a second chance to return to the road.

Everybody knows that a car spending such a long time in the same place comes with major issues, albeit it doesn't seem to be the case with this Vette. However, I believe it has already received a repaint at some point in its life, as the body looks great, and it's hard to find a paint issue in the images. I advise potential buyers to order a third-party inspection or check the car in person, especially if they are interested in an all-original Corvette.

The good news for these customers is that the original engine is still in the car.

The VIN code (1Z37T4S414301) decodes to a 1974 Corvette with an L82 engine. The engine develops 250 horsepower and is paired with a manual transmission. eBay seller olewillies shared a long list of mechanical fixes done recently, including a refreshed brake system and fuel system maintenance, so it's no surprise the engine now starts, runs, and drives.

However, I've got bad news if you hoped to find an all-original Corvette. This 1974 example won't be it, and I'm sure diehard Vette fans already spotted the differences versus an all-original unit. The owner installed a new front bumper and a new "1980 retro bumper." They claim the color "matches the best we could," so you'll have to take care of all these problems if you don't like the setup but want the car.

The low miles could be the biggest surprise on this Corvette. The owner says the odometer indicates only approximately 29,000 miles, and considering the original engine is still in the car, it could also be the original mileage.

Getting your hands on this Vette won't be easy. The car landed on eBay with an $8,000 price tag, but the seller also enabled a reserve. This means that $8K is only the starting point for the digital battle, but the selling price could be significantly higher. Meanwhile, the car sleeps in Winton, California, and with the auction ending in three days, you should hurry up to contact the seller and discuss more details about their Vette.
