People tend to have different opinions about BMW as a brand and what defines it. While some claim that their engines are their best attribute, other consider that chassis tuning is the way to go when trying to pinpoint the defining trait of the Bavarian company. We think it’s a combination of both.
The owner of this particular 1973 2002 doesn’t seem to agree though. As far as we can tell, he’s on the chassis side of things, as you can see from his car and what it has become.

While a lot of people buy 2002 models for their value and for the distinct possibility of turning them into a collector’s item, others just do what they want with them and even swap out their engines.

This one, for example, has a Nissan SR20DET engine under the bonnet that was tuned to make over 400 HP with ease! Given the engine’s compact size it was perfect to be fit inside the 2002’s bay, without altering the car’s balance too much.

Other changes include a custom suspension, roll cage, new seats, redone transmission with a new rear diff and gearbox, changing the brakes altogether (including the old drum brakes at the back with discs), new wheels from Volk and new tires, of course.

The thing is now a rocket on wheels, with a weight that doesn’t go too much over 1 ton and over 400 HP at its disposal, it’s easy to see how you can put a lot of cars to shame with it, including supercars. Its look is what attracts a lot of victims, the 2002 posing as an old granny that will simply tear you to pieces as soon as you come closer and you realize the dire mistake you made.

PS: there’s something about that wooden steering wheel that simply won’t let me sleep. It just looks so dangerous!
