Launched in 1970 in two versions, the standard Duster and the Duster 340, Plymouth's coupe received subtle changes for the next two model years.
The carmaker waited until 1973 to release a more significant facelift, aligning the Duster with the Valiant (which served as the donor for many other changes in the Duster lineup).

However, the 1972 model year brought one-piece taillights (it's actually the easiest way to tell a 1972 Duster apart from a previous version), as well as minor engine tweaks, with all horsepower ratings now moving to net numbers like the rest of the industry.

The car was available with the same engines as the first two model years in the generation, including the popular (and most commonly ordered) 225 slant-six and 318 V8. The top choice remained the 340.

The 1972 Plymouth Duster you see in the photos was parked in the grandma's garage for 35 years, but it's now out in impressive shape and with many original goodies.

Showdown Motors, the garage in charge of finding a new owner, says the car sells with the original dealer documentation and window sticker. The Duster was purchased new in Michigan in 1972 and now comes with a new fuel tank and sending unit, an unused new spoiler, new brakes and brake lines, and other essential parts that make it ready for the road.

The Duster also sports many original parts, including the interior that came with the car, the air conditioning, the spare tires, and even the wheels and tires that were installed by Plymouth.

However, the most impressive part is the number on the odometer. The vehicle has just 20K miles, and the garage claims the owner swore it's the original figure. It makes sense, considering the vehicle has been sitting for nearly three decades, but you should have this checked, especially because a low-mileage Duster is rare today.

The vehicle sports a very solid shape and is ready for the road, and if you don't mind several tweaks and enjoy a mostly original car, it could easily become a daily driver or an occasional companion during sunny weekend days. Everything is in working shape – even the carburetor is in tip-top condition, though it received an overhaul not long ago.

Unsurprisingly, this Duster won't sell cheaply, but the asking price could become a roadblock for its return to the road. The garage will let it go to anyone willing to pay $30K, which despite the solid shape and the working everything, is still a very ambitious expectation. The good news is that the garage is also willing to discuss the selling price, with the Make Offer option enabled on eBay.

You can see the car in person and maybe take it for a quick spin in Fraser, Michigan.
