A couple of days ago we were telling you that BMW E9 model prices are going through the roof and that getting one now might be a good investment. Well, after showing you a pristine 3.0CSL yesterday that might be a bit too expensive, we're back with another proposition. This time, it's a 3.0CS.
The difference between the two is big enough to make them stand out. As you can probably tell, the CS version is just a bit more toned down, calmer and more serious. At the same time, the CSL version is the one that gets your blood flowing and intoxicates you with its smell of unburnt fuel.

This particular model also has quite the story behind it. As it turns out, its owner had to wait 18 months to have it delivered due to some misunderstandings between the importer and the plant back in Germany. You have to understand that back in the early 1970s BMW was just entering the US market.

Unlike today when they have one of their biggest plants in the world operating on the North American continent, back then the automobiles had to be shipped over. That's also one of the issues that contributed to the waiting time getting out of hand.

Initially, the first owner didn't even order an 3.0CS. The car was offered to him after his original order, a 2800CS, was delayed for eight months. In the end, his car arrived, all dressed in red with a contrasting black leather interior. It's beautiful today, just imagine how great it was back in the 1970s.

Today it's up for grabs for $48,500, and it looks in pristine shape. It has an aftermarket CD player that doesn't fit the whole picture but also other neat features like Alpina wheels, suspension, steering wheel and shift knob. At this price tag, it's actually quite a bargain.
