Plenty of people have installed Hellcat engines in the old Chargers and Challengers. It's the obvious thing to do. But have you ever seen a 1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite rocking the supercharged monster?
This build was put together by Randy Weaver and his crew over at the Utah-based Weaver Customs. The first thing that you notice is just how clean this is. The Sport Satellite is one hot piece of muscle car metal without any unnecessary frills.
This isn't a popular car in the custom world, so a lot of the parts had to be custom-made. The rockers, the front spoiler, the hood, and the scoops down the sides are all fabricated out of metal, even though they look like modern plastic components.
Pearl green paint literally makes it look like money, while the front screams restomod. An all-black mesh grille houses two brushed ram intakes and a couple of round LED headlights. It's as if the car wants to be better than the modern Challenger.
Even though 70s muscle cars are known for having ample room under the hood, the Sport Satellite required a massive power dome in order to house the modern Dodge engine, which still comes out through a cutout in the hood.
They didn't leave the Hellcat stock either. It now makes about 900 horsepower and sends power through a six-speed to a chopped Ford 9-inch rear. To ensure the old body could handle this modern muscle, Weaver Customs installed a custom chassis, Scotts Hotrods front suspension and four-link rear suspension. As you can probably see in the video below, it's also got modern Wilwood disc brakes and a set of brushed alloy wheels.
As for the interior, this is a tasteful combination of the money green from the outside with a very simple dashboard and tan leather.
