When we stumbled upon this auction involving a classic pony car, two sayings came up in our heads: the devil is in the details and never judge a book by its cover.
That's because what you see in the picture above is not an original '66 Mustang GT350.

Let's keep it between us: what you're looking at is, in fact, a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback that just completed a 3-year professional ground up restoration process.

Nevertheless, the vintage character is there, but the pony car isn't what it claims to be. However, after the makeover was done, the car managed to add 1,000 miles (1,600 km) under its belt, so you know it wasn't kept in a barn, with rust and dust menacing its precious body parts.

In any case, the car is powered by a 289 cu in (the equivalent of 4.7 liters) V8 good for 200 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 282 lb-ft (382 Nm) unleashed at 2,400 rpm.

According to Bring a Trailer, alterations to the standard ’65 fastback body include rear quarter windows (new for ‘66), rear valence panel with trumpet exhaust outlets, and functional side scoops that aid rear brake cooling. As you can see in the pictures, the car's restoration led to a good-looking finite product. We're saying that because the underside appears to be clean and corrosion-free.

The non-Koni shocks have been painted red and wear Koni stickers to evoke the look of the Konis used on the original GT350.

Someone tried to turn this into a Shelby really hard, we'll give you that. The question is, how much would you pay for it?
