Before the American Motors Corporation was born in 1954, there was a thing called the Hudson Motor Car Company. Based in Detroit, like most others, the company specialized in making a wide range of automobiles, from the Hudson Eight and Commodore, to a less successful line of three-quarter-ton pickup trucks.
But whatever it did in its close to half of century existence, Hudson never made anything as exciting as the truck in the gallery above.

The official name of the build sitting before our eyes is '1947 Hudson pickup truck.' The custom machine is part of a larger collection of cars, and just surfaced on the open market, selling for close to $160,000. And if there was any car that is worth that much, this one here sure looks like that’s it.

The two-seater, low riding pickup is wrapped in a metal body sculpted so graciously that it looks almost unreal. Contributing to that are the colors chosen for it, a combination of pearl white and yellow that make it look like it’s edible, and delicious at that.

An equally exciting wonder is hiding under the hood. There, the builders fitted a massive Chevrolet V8 engine. 500ci (8.2-liters) in displacement, it works with a supercharger and an electronic fuel injection designed in such a way as to look like a Hilborn carburetor.

The interior is equally out of this world. Following the same color scheme as the truck’s body, it reveals leather seats, a clean, minimalistic dashboard, and a center console that holds the electronic controller for starter, windows, sound, and air suspension.

The entire build has barely been used on the road (there are close to 1,700 miles shown on the odometer), and it certainly deserves to be taken out in the open. Someone with a large enough bank account can have it for exactly $156,878.
