Perhaps some of you are wondering why high-octane donuts are not as popular as they should be. Or perhaps not, in which case you can consider the following paragraphs an answer to a question nobody asked.
Seriously, donuts baked with the help of supercars should be insanely popular, at least more popular than burnouts, since they add a new dimension to the hooning compared to the latter. But they're not and we have a very good reason for that.
We'll use the clip below as an example, with the footage bringing us a Lamborghini Gallardo playing in the snow.
The uploader of the video claims this is a Sant'Agata Bolognese machine that has gone down the twin-turbo route. Given the forced induction background, the declared 1,500 hp output of the V10 seems only natural. For one thing, these TT Lamborghinis can go well above 2,000 horses when the boost gets serious.
However, with the slippery surface covering the vast parking lot that served as a dragstrip for the Gallardo, the exact output of the car is of little importance. Even with a factory V10 setup, the driver would have more than enough power to pull monstrous AWD donuts, if not memorable drifts.
Well, the guy behind the wheel of this Lambo manages to miss both targets mentioned above. While he goes for a prolonged donut session, what we see here are the kind of spins we'd expect from a kid taking his Power Wheels ride out in the snow for the first time.
Given the machine at hand and the available space, all this driver needed in order to come up with decent stunts was a tiny drop of creativity.
While we admire the fact that the man doesn't treat his Lambo as a garage queen when the cold season bites, here's to hoping he'll be much better prepared for next year.
