We are now more than two decades away from the era when the R32 and R33 Nissan Skyline GT-Rs were battling it out with the fourth-generation Toyota Supra and yet the competition between the two nameplates lives on with effervescent results.
The GT-R and the Supra are often seen engaging in drifting dog fights, but the same can be said about drag strip shenanigans and we're here to discuss one of these sprinting episodes.

For this adventure, we'll have to go all the way to Qatar. Fret not, 1320 racing fans, the country has a strong drag racing scene, as we've shown you on other occasions. And yes, the US connections of this world are serious.

The Qatar Racing Club (friends call it the QRC) recently hosted a series of quarter mile battles that saw some frightening pieces of machinery going up against each other.

One of this fights saw an R32 GT-R being thrown at a Supra - as it usually happens these days, the two machines were extremely far from what their platforms used to stand for when they left the factory.

The Nissan in question came with an output that traveled north of 1,500 horsepower. As for the Toyota, we don't know its hp figure, but we can tell you this speeding instrument relies on a 102 mm turbo.

Alas, the Skyline GT-R loses its rear end after the first step of the race. This means that Nissan had enough time to get to the kind of speed that can deliver serious damage.

The R32 hit the wall on the side of the track hard, with the racecar spinning in the process. The only fortunate side of this story has to do with the driver, who managed to escape the crash unharmed.

P.S.: Just in case you're not convinced of the strength displayed by the drag racing world in Qatar, you should check out the current R35 Nissan GT-R quarter mile world record run.
