YAMAHA SZR 660 (1996-2001) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Yamaha SZR 660 was a sports motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha from 1996 as a replacement for the SRX 600 and continued production until 2001. The bike was made in Italy by Yamaha's importer Belgrada.

The bike packed the same engine as the dual-purpose on/off-road Yamaha XTZ 660 Tenere motorcycles but with an additional Supermono package. It featured three intake and two exhaust valves, allowing maximum intake flow and velocity.

In 1996, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer launched the Yamaha SZR 660, a sports machine with standard features, such as an upper fairing with a medium-sized windscreen, a one-piece dual seat, a single exhaust system, and lightweight three-spoke aluminum wheels.

As for suspension, the bike packed a 41 mm telescopic fork on the front and a preload and rebound-adjustable shock absorber on the rear, providing optimum suspension performance and handling.

The braking performance was handled by a 320 mm disc with a four-piston caliper on the front and a 210 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear, mounted on 17-inch wheels, delivering excellent stopping power.

The 1996 Yamaha SZR 660 had installed a 659cc four-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine managed by a carburetor, delivering an output power of 48 hp with maximum force at 6,500 rpm and 56 Nm (41 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.
