YAMAHA MT-03 (2006-Present) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Yamaha MT-03, also known as the FZ-03, was a naked motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha from 2006 to 2014, packing a single-cylinder engine derived from the Yamaha XT660R and from 2016 with a parallel-twin powerplant.

The first version of the Yamaha MT-03 manufactured from 2006 to 2014 was powered by a 659cc four-stroke SOHC single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, boasting 48 hp at 6,000 rpm and 56 Nm (41 lb-ft) torque at 5,250 rpm.

In 2016, the Japanese maker reintroduced the Yamaha MT-03, a naked machine based on the YZF-R3 sports motorcycle, powered by a 320cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-twin-cylinder engine that offered an output power of 48 hp at 6,000 rpm and 58 Nm (43 lb-ft) torque at 5,250 rpm.

For suspension, the 2006-2014 Yamaha MT-03 packed a telescopic fork with 130 mm wheel travel on the front and a single shock absorber mounted on the right side of the engine, offering 122 mm of wheel travel.

As for the 2016-2019 Yamaha MT-03, the suspension was handled by a 41 mm KYB telescopic fork with 130 wheel travel on the front and a KYB single shock absorber with 124 mm wheel travel on the rear.

In 2019, Yamaha presented the 2020 MT-03 version with several upgrades and modifications, such as a tuned rear suspension and an upside-down front fork, an MT series exhaust system, an LED taillight, a split seat, and an upgraded cluster with user-friendly capabilities.
