YAMAHA MT-01 SP (Canada) (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Yamaha MT-01 was a muscle bike manufactured by Yamaha from 2005 to 2012, part of the MT series in Yamaha's range. The bike was powered by a Yamaha Warrior XV1700 engine, modified to suit the MT-01 machine.

In 2007, the Japanese maker released the Yamaha MT-01 Canada, a special treat reserved for the Canadian market only, bringing the same mind-blowing performance from a top-of-the-line cruiser engine with superbike technology, chassis, brakes, and suspension.

The 2007 motorcycle packed standard features, such as a large headlight, a bulbous fuel tank, a one-piece dual seat, an under-seat exhaust system, an instrument cluster mounted above the headlight, and lightweight four-spoke magnesium wheels.

In addition to its standard features, the 2007 Yamaha MT-01 Canada came with a two-tone paint scheme, accents stitching, and rim stripes, which added more styling to its already stylish appearance.

In the performance department, the bike packed the same 1,670cc four-stroke V-twin air-cooled engine as previous models, delivering 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) torque with a peak at 3,750 rpm and 90 hp at 4,750 rpm.

The bike featured a lightweight aluminum die-cast downtube-type frame with excellent handling capabilities, offering a clear image without visible welds. It also packed a fully detachable subframe that offered easier access to the rear shock.

As for the stopping power, the 2007 Yamaha MT-01 SP Canada was fitted with four-piston calipers, two 320 mm discs on the front wheel, and a single-piston caliper with a 267 mm disc on the rear wheel, offering excellent braking performance.
