The 2008 MY Ural Patrol has, at its heart, an air-cooled, four-stroke, 749cc, boxer twin cylinder powerplant paired to a four-speed manual transmission with a reverse gear, and can produce a claimed 40 horsepower and 52 Nm of torque.

This machine has been designed as an all-road vehicle, even if they are unpaved, and can equally tackle mundane tasks such as daily commutes or grocery shopping, as well as a weekend woodland trail. 2WD comes as standard on this machine, as well as a spare wheel with a large luggage rack atop it, a spacious trunk, a high-end suspension package, laced wheels, and a leading link front fork.
