BENELLI 304 (1985-1986) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 1985, the Italian motorcycle maker released the Benelli 304, a light and agile touring-oriented motorcycle in its second production year. The bike came in the same shape and form as the previous one, featuring the same characteristics without any modifications.

The Benelli 304 was a touring-oriented motorcycle manufactured by Benelli for only five years, from 1984 to 1988. The bike was in the same category as the 354 Sport and 350 RS and was created especially for touring purposes.

Like the previous model, the 1985 Benelli 304 packed standard fittings, such as a round headlight, a color-matched front fender, a four-into-two exhaust system with a silencer mounted on each side, a one-piece, two-up seat, a center stand, and 12-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

It was made around a tubular steel frame that housed the suspension system. It comprised a 30 mm hydraulic telescopic fork handling the front suspension and a dual-sided swingarm with two side-mounted shocks handling the rear suspension.

In the braking department, the motorcycle had fitted a single 260 mm brake disc clamped to a hydraulic caliper controlling the front wheel and a 158 mm drum unit acting on the rear wheel.

Regarding power, the 1985 Benelli 304 took its thrust from a 231 four-stroke four-cylinder air-cooled engine mounted underneath its fuel tank, delivering 28 hp at 10,500 rpm and 19 Nm (14 lb-ft) torque at 9,000 rpm.
