2017 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Coupe Photos, engines & full specs

Mercedes introduced a facelift for its smallest sedan on the market, the CLA, in 2015, and together with the rest of the range, the AMG 45 sibling went through some changes.

Designed as a competitor for the A3 Sedan and the BMW 1 Series, the CLA was a shrunk version of the CLS. But the three-pointed-star brand raised the bar when it introduced the turbocharged AMG version for it, transforming the four-door coupe into a family pocket rocket.

The CLA 45 AMG was the four-door version of the already known A-Class 45 AMG. While the first model appeared in 2013 and was named Mercedes-Benz, starting with the facelifted version, it became Mercedes-AMG. Apart from the name, there were some other changes. For instance, the car gained a revised front fascia with a double-louver satin-metallic trim that supported the three-pointed-star badge in the middle. Moreover, the lower bumper featured a new A-wing design with front splitter inserts in matte titanium gray and high-gloss black slats. In addition, the carmaker added a new lip spoiler at the back and a few fins that adorned the fake rear vents on the bumper.

Inside, the automaker included the ARTICO man-made leather as a standard feature to cover the dashboard to reduce glare. Moreover, the door cards also sported the same material. Since it was a sporty four-door coupe, AMG considered offering a set of high-bolstered bucket seats at the front.

But the most significant change was under the hood, where the two-liter inline-four engine gained 20 hp, thus reducing the 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kph) time by 0.3 seconds. Power went in all corners via a standard seven-speed (dual-clutch) AMG SPEEDSHIFT gearbox.
