The Volkswagen Golf GTI is a car that really need no introduction. It's almost 40 years now, which mean's you have to treat it with the respect it deserves. But even Volkswagen is getting a bit naughty with the GTI badge and has swapped the I for a 'D' and an 'E' to create a three-model family of hot hatches, the first one of its kind.
Maybe we need a custom project to remind us the GTI is the car which started everything, a project like this. German wrap company Rakelx Folientechnik did a 3D effect vinyl cover for the seventh generation GTI. Its main focus is the contrast between the color red and darker tones, though the famous honeycomb grille that tells other Golf drivers you're in something special.
Red has always been a GTI trademark. The first generation used a thin strip to surround the square grille, However, the honeycomb design for the mesh only came about with the Mk5 model's arrival and has been with us ever since.
What's different about the current generation in this respect is that the red accent is now a long stripe flows though the headlights. Rakelx Folientechnik has played with the honeycomb theme well by giving is a 3D effect using multiple layer of vinyl. Simple tricks and careful planning have always been the GTI way.
