Looking like a tour buss for a small alternative rock band, B&B Automobiltechnik has unveiled today its latest performance package for the Volkswagen T5 2.0 TSI, covering both cosmetics and performance aspects of the vehicle extensively.
German tuners usually don’t have a sense for silly names, but this project could easily be called the van from hell, as it packs a missive 320 horsepower and 495 Nm of torque. All that power comes from a series of mods, which cover an engine remap, better breathing for the 2.0-liter thanks to a sporty intake and new fuel injectors.
Other enhancements performed by B&B on the Volkswagen T5 2.0 TSI include a special oil cooling system, a high-performance intercooler and a custom downpine which helps reduce exhaust back pressure and exhaust temperature.
B&B also fitted the TSI with a different turbocharger, along with a modified air intake and a sport exhaust system. The end-result is something that can carry a drum kit and a lot o guitars but is as fast as most hothatches. The dash from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 6.5 seconds, which is a massive 2-second improvement over the standard model. Top speed has also been boosted from 200 km/h (124 mph) stock to 228 km/h (142 mph), which is also on par with something like the Golf GTI.
The cost of the package for the engine is 12,950 in Germany, and B&B also offers a number of other upgrades for the T5, which cover lower springs (€348), adjustable coilovers (€1,598), front and rear stabilizers (€498) and a 4- or 6-piston high performance brake system (€3,795).
