We've recently told you that Toyota is preparing a hotter version of the GT 86, with the vehicle set to use a supercharged engine that will deliver around 300 hp. We had previously reported that Subaru is working on a beefier incarnation of the BRZ and the carmaker has now confirmed this.
Subaru will gift the BRZ with a STI-developed turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer that currently powers the car. There are various sources that report that the company will offer two hot version, a STI and a non-STI one, but this wouldn’t make sense, as the top version is expected to offer 300 ho - why would Subaru want to squeeze 3 versions within 100 hp (the standard BRZ comes with 200 hp).

We approve the development of such a model, which seems to have a solid business case behind it - you can read more on this here.
