Subaru Abuses Forester, Outback, XV Crosstrek in the Name of Fun

As car-based crossovers, it’s easy to look at the Subaru Forester, Outback and XV Crosstrek as anything more than soft-roaders, but Subaru’s home office wanted to prove to us otherwise. Inspired by the Warrior Run, Mud Run and Color Run, Subaru put its trio of crossovers through a fairly challenging obstacle course, which, like the races, aim to be both fun and challenging.
Released by Subaru Global, the two-minute video shows the three vehicles being driven through mud, soap suds and balloons filled with colored powder not to mention climbing the steep incline to start the race. To make the video even more cheery, a house-mix version of the William Tell Overture plays in the background all while the three Subies are torture tested. As with any form of advertising, there were definitely some creative liberties taken with the capabilities of the three Subarus (such as getting airborne over a ramp), but we’re sure most of the course would be quite fun in any of these cars.

This video builds on some rather impressive spots that Subaru has produced lately including the commercial for the Subaru WRX STI in Europe where the guys out to get a loaf of bread while his lady friend sleeps or the ad campaign in the U.S. for the new Subaru Legacy that includes father drifting the sedan in a field after his son broke his remote-controlled car.

We can almost certainly assume that the Subaru Warriors video will not make its way to any American advertisement, but it isn’t clear if other markets will get to enjoy the video. Overall, the video is entertaining to watch, but we wouldn’t recommend performing these stunts in your Subaru.
