After the Golf received LEDs for its seventh incarnation, Volkswagen officials must have decided to leave no headlight unchanged. Yesterday, we saw that even the humble Polo has LEDs now. What next, the Up!?
Since just about every Volkswagen showroom in Europe has an Amarok pickup, somebody must have though that it too needed LEDs. Voila, test have begun on a brand new headlight system. Circular lenses denote a xenon system for the main beams, with LEDs forming a wide-U shape at the bottom of the unit.
The setup seemed vaguely familiar and we checked and found a V6 TDI powered Amarok concept had a similar setup at the Worthersee last year. Does that mean we're looking at a 270 hp pickup? We don't think so, but maybe VW will surprise us and reveal its updates at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
Editor's note: It's a good thing they are testing the system, because as you can see the LEDs on the right side of the car are not working.
